This large cat teapot from Astier de Villatte is created in collaboration with modern Japanese artist Countess Setsuko Klossowski de Rola – a languid and delightfully strange object, perfect for a cosy kitchen.

Votary of pre-industrial fabrication, Astier de Villatte is celebrated for being the one and only studio in Paris to hold and harbour the traditions of artisanal ceramic production. Restoring the ancestral systems of moulding and stamping, this teapot is made using techniques from the Middle Ages which involve moulding a sheet of handmade clay, double firing the ‘biscuit’ piece and glazing the product in white enamel – a lengthy process that requires a drying time of up to one month. Inspired by the classic forms of 18th and 19th century pottery, the slightly surreal ceramic cat pours tea through its paw – arrange with other Setsuko Klossowski de Rola pieces to breathe an air of authenticity into your table setting.
